Oh Bountiful Earth!
I love my garden. It started small, and it technically still is small.....except that the plants have decided to take over a bit of space outside their prescribed boundaries. Rogue zucchini leaves encroach the walkway between beds, and runaway watermelon suckers try to take root in beds 4 feet away from their home. My tomato plants are taller than I am, and the spaghetti squash/acorn squash jungle is reaching similar heights. Cucumbers produce enough pickling babies to keep us dilly for quite a while, and the peppers go through growth spurts that leave me wondering if they're the same plants I saw a few days ago. These are the pickings from one day. Bear in mind most of the veggies are still in their infancy and not truly 'in' yet!
In the picture: chard, basil, lettuces, pickling cukes, zucchini, squash, tomatoes. Not in the picture but ready to be picked soon: eggplant, assorted spaghetti/acorn/butternut squash, watermelon, peppers, more tomatoes, more chard, beets, onions, more basil (hello pesto!), more lettuce, peas, green beans, wax beans, and hopefully some broccoli, broccoli rabe, cauliflower.....and who knows what all else!
